CLOpen Architects is multidisciplinary design firm who keep forges his skill in Architecture, Urban Design, Strategical Design Consulting and so on. All the architect of CLOpen team believes that design is the key catalyst which can change the world in better way from everyday lifestyle of single human to competitiveness of one society.
CLOpen is a special term to explain the status of certain set which is both open and closed in a topological space. Like as the meaning of our company name; CLOpen, we are belonging in middle state between private and public, look at the world without any bias and pursue on our design not only for private interest but also for common good. Under this perspective, we at CLOpen, will approaches each design project as great opportunity to practice and explore new ideas of architectural space, form and human sustainability.
CLOpen Architects는 건축설계 및 도시설계, 디자인 컨설팅 분야에서 다양한 기술과 경험을 축적한 건축 디자인 회사입니다. CLOpen의 모든 건축가는 디자인이 인간의 일상 생활에서부터 한 사회의 경쟁력에 이르기까지 더 나은 세상을 만들어내는 모든과정에서 핵심촉매로 역할 할 수 있음을 믿습니다.
CLOpen은 위상학(Topology)에서 사용하는 수학용어로, 열려 있으며 동시에 닫혀있는 특정 상태를 의미합니다. CLOpen의 뜻처럼, 우리는 개인과 공공 사이에서 어느 한쪽으로 치우침 없이 세상을 바라보며, 개인의 이익과 공공의 공동선 모두를 위해 우리의 디자인을 실현시켜 나갈 것입니다. 이를 위해 CLOpen의 모든 팀원은 각각의 프로젝트를 건축의 공간, 형태 그리고 인류의 지속가능성에 대한 새로운 아이디어를 탐색하고 실현할 수있는 소중한 기회라 생각하며 접근하겠습니다.
고성석 | Seong Seok Ko, KIRA, AIA
Seong Seok Ko is a principal of CLOpen Architects as well as an adjunct professor at Hongik University. He has good understanding and design execution abilities in all scale of the built environment projects rooted in over 15 years of international professional experiences. Seong Seok has two master degrees from Harvard University, Graduate School of Design and Seoul National University, Graduate School of Engineering.
The portfolio of Seong Seok spans across a diverse range of project types, with a strong focus in Asia, including prime class-A office buildings, mixed-use complexes, higher education facilities, residential buildings, hospitality facilities, multimodal transportation facilities, theme parks. Seong Seok approaches each design project as an opportunity to practice and explore new ideas of space, form, sustainability and common good.

고성석은 CLOpen Architects의 소장이자 홍익대학교 건축대학 겸임교수로서 건축, 도시설계, 인테리어 설계를 포함한 다양한 디자인 분야에서 활발하게 활동하고 있다. 미국 하버드 건축대학원, 서울대학교 공과대학원 및 한동대학교에서 건축과 도시설계를 수학하였으며, 美 AECOM사의 홍콩 아시아 헤드쿼터 / 싱가포르 사무소, 진아건축도시 서울 / 호치민 사무소 등에서 수련하며 다양한 스케일의 개발프로젝트를 경험하였다. 대표작으로는 중국 샤먼시 EXPO 복합역사, 타이완 미아오리 샹그릴라 리조트 마스터플랜, 에버랜드 골프호텔, 세운4구역 도시환경 정비사업 및 하이원 스키리조트 등이 있다.
조남일 | Nam Il Joe
Nam Il Joe is an adjunct professor at Hansung University (Seoul, Korea) who has built his professional experiences with varied scales and programs of building and interior projects in United States and South Korea for 14 years. He has a professional degree, Master of Architecture from University of Pennsylvania, School of Design.
Also, he has invited several Exhibitions and Lectures of AIA Young Architects Forum (Philadelphia, US), Kaisan Gallery (Calgary, CA), Seoul Museum of Art, Exploring The Next Door (Korea Institute of Architects), Seoul Architecture Festival.
Representative Projects: EVO at CIRA South (PA, US), Holly Point Commons, Rowan University (NJ, US), Syracuse University, Intermodal Transportation Center (NY, US), University of Pennsylvania, Meyerson Hall Renovation (PA, US), JangChung Church (Seoul, Korea), Munhyeon Hill Tower Complex (Busan, Korea), KSTAR Nuclear Fusion Lavatory (Deajeon, KR), ÅLand Interior Design (Eunpyung, Myoungdong, Coex in Seoul, Korea), Jelly Fairy Café (Seoul, Korea), Dulwich College Seoul Renovation 2017 (Seoul, Korea).
조남일은 CLOpen Architects의 디렉터이자 남서울대학교 건축대학에서 겸임교수이다. 조남일은 건축설계, 인테리어 디자인 및 인터액티브 디자인 등 다양한 분야에 경계없이 관심을 가지며 작업을 진행하고 있다. 미국 펜실베니아 대학 건축대학원과 한동대학교에서 건축설계를 전공하였으며, Erdy McHenry Architecture (US)에서 실무를 수련하였다..미국 건축사협회 YAF, 캐나다 카이산 갤러리, 서울시립미술관, 한국 건축가협회 옆집탐구전, 서울건축문화제 등의 전시 및 강연에 참여하였다. 대표작으로는 EVO, Cira South 주상복합, 삼성전자 스페인 마드리드 플래그쉽 스토어 인테리어, ÅLAND COEX몰 등이 있다.
송규만 | Kyu Man Song, Dr.
Kyuman Song is a professor of architecture at Hongik University and a creative director of CLOpen Architects. He has diverse experience on all range of design fields; architectural design, interior design, product design and information design.
He has acquired a doctoral and a master degree from Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania and worked for SK Holdings, General Dynamics, Harvard Center for Design Informatics and Xerox PARC, USA.
His representative projects are Hotel 28 Myeong-dong, Jangsaengpo Monorail Station, Samsung Electronics Madrid flagship Store Interior in Spain, Human resources development center of Ministry of Health and Welfare, Nonhyeon-dong 77 Office, Nonhyeon-dong 74 mansion house.
송규만 교수는 홍익대학교 건축대학 교수이며 CLOpen Architects의 Creative Director로서 건축설계, 인테리어 디자인, 제품디자인, 정보디자인 분야 작품활동을 하고 있다. 미국 하버드 대학교, 펜실베니아대학에서 박사와 석사 학위을 취득하였으며, 미국 SK Holdings, General Dynamics, Harvard Center for Design Informatics, Xerox PARC에서 실무를 수행하였다. 최근작으로는 호텔 28 명동, 장생포 모노레일 스테이션, 삼성전자 스페인 마드리드 플래그쉽 스토어 인테리어, 보건복지부 인력개발원 인테리어, 논현동 77 오피스, 논현동 74 상가주택 등이 있다.
